When I entered to university, I must admit that my opinion and concept about the career was completely different to now. In this time, 2014, I imagined the journalism like a person sitting in his desk meanwhile he writes articles for a newspaper. I liked this notion and I wanted this type of professional because I believed that was the best option for someone with interest in humanist science and investigation area. However, in this last five years studying journalism, I found several weaknesses in the way of teaching from university. For example, School of Journalism at Universidad de Chile, its curriculum is not adapted to new times where be a conventional journalist don´t guarantee a good job or working position. In this blog going to talk about Hedy Lamarr, an actress and inventor. She was born in Austria, in 1914, but she nationalized as American after her contribution to science and arts. Her life was very attractive for me. She born in a Jewish family and escaped from her first husband, who was a Nazi collaborated. Whit him, she was just four years married (1933- 1937, a time where was difficult be a woman and do this type of things). In 1940 she arrived to EE.UU where her career as actress on Hollywood started. The Lamarr’s talent and beauty highlight too early. But her importance for me was her contribution to telecommunication and development of new technologies. Together American composer George Antheil, invented a radio guidance system using spread spectrum and frequency hopping technology.
